Krishna Shroff is aware of the legacy she comes from. Despite being born to Jackie Shroff and Ayesha Shroff and having Tiger Shroff as her brother, Krishna chose a different path, one that she wants to follow. During a recent interview with Filmfare, Krishna spoke to us about wanting to break away from a massive legacy while knowing that her family would support her no matter what.
When asked how she got into fitness, Krishna replied stating that it happened organically. She said, “I stepped foot into a gym for the first time when I was 22 years old. At that time, I just felt like I needed to do something for myself and something transformative.”
Krishna further opened up about feeling lost and not having her own identity. She said, “I started prioritizing my health, my wellness and my overall wellbeing, whether that be physical or mental. I realized very soon that they both go hand in hand through the gym. I mean, there was no looking back. It was an absolute game changer. And it was the absolute best thing that I could have ever done. It has given me an identity that I’ve always wanted.”
Krishna elaborated on wanting to do something away from her film legacy, comprising her father Jackie Shroff and brother Tiger Shroff. “It (fitness) helped me do something away from the massive legacy that I come from. It’s hard to break out of that. People assume that if you are coming from a film family that would be end all and that will be all of your world.”
Did she always want to break away from her legacy? Krishna said she did. “Of course, the name and everything that my father is, is something that my brother and I are so proud of. To be fair, he has given us a platform to do things that we feel passionate about, have the opportunities to explore and experiment and have that head start into something that you feel like you want to try out. But at the same time, everyone wants to be known for who they are and something amazing and great that they do.”
Speaking about Tiger’s commitment for acting, Krishna lauded her brother for being consistent and knowing what we wanted early on. “So, my brother very early on was able to break out of that and create a niche for himself within the same industry my father’s from. And that was very inspiring to me. It motivated me to want to do something for myself as well and just be known as my own person.”
