Aamir Khan’s daughter, Ira Khan, recently made a candid revelation. She opened up about being financially dependent on her parents in her late 20s and feeling guilty and useless because of that.
During an interview, the star kid recalled a time when she felt guilty of not contributing to the family financially. Ira said, “Main 26-27 saal ki hoon, mere maa baap ne mere upar bahut paise kharch kiye hain, aur main duniya mein bekar insaan hoon, main kuch nahi kar rahi hoon. (I am 26-27 years old. My parents have spent a lot of money on me. I feel like a useless person in this world. I am not doing anything.)”
However, Aamir Khan was quick to interrupt and said that Ira wanted to imply that she was not earning money or doing something worthy before she started Agastu Foundation, which is their mental health support NGO.
Aamir said, “You are helping so many people, and that means a lot to me. Whether you are earning money or not is not important; the good work you are doing is. Money is actually a promissory note that everyone decides to agree to — or else it’s just a piece of paper.”
Aamir Khan and Ira Khan often speak about their mental health and sometime back, they revealed that they go for therapy together. In a conversation with his daughter and Dr. Vivek Murthy, Aamir said, “Therapy is so helpful. I think she (Ira) pushed me down that path. I would strongly recommend therapy to anyone who feels the need for it? It has been helpful for me. In fact, Ira and I also have started joint therapy. The two of us go to a therapist for our own relationship. To work on how to make that better and issues which have been there for over years.”
Ira Khan is Aamir Khan’s daughter from his first marriage with Reena Dutt. She also has a brother, actor Junaid Khan and half-brother Azaad.
