Kim Soo Hyun is facing widespread backlash for allegedly dating the late actress Kim Sae Ron when she was a minor. Now, the South Korean actor is embroiled in a fresh wave of controversy since Sae Ron’s passing. Alleged text messages between the two have surfaced. The messages, seemingly sent in April 2018, show Sae Ron’s frustration with Soo Hyun.

Kim Sae Ron’s break-up texts get leaked

A leaked text message that was allegedly sent by Kim Sae Ron to Kim Soo Hyun reads, “Oppa, when you miss me and need me, you keep in touch with me without a problem. But when I need you, you’re always MIA. It bothers me that I can’t get in contact with you, and it’s inconvenient. If you don’t put in the effort, then I’m not seeing you anymore.”

This update comes after multiple allegations against Kim Soo Hyun over his relationship with Kim Sae Ron. The late actress’s family and the YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute have made several claims. However, Kim and his agency, Gold Medalist, have firmly denied claims that the Queen of Tears actor began a relationship with Kim Sae Ron when she was 15. They maintained that their relationship only lasted a year when she was of legal age.

Kim Soo Hyun held a press conference

Addressing accusations, the actor shared, “I did not date the deceased when she was a minor. And it is not true that she made a tragic choice because I turned my back on her, or because my agency pressured her over her debts. But now, the deceased’s family is claiming that because I was her ex-boyfriend, I drove her to her death. They are demanding that I confess to something I didn’t do. They say: You manipulated her since she was a minor. You pressured her financially and caused her death.”

“I am willing to admit to any wrongdoing on my part. If there is something I must take responsibility for, I believe it is only right to do so. But I cannot admit to things I did not do. If people call my choice cowardly or selfish, I will accept that criticism without hesitation. And to everyone who has cared for me, I sincerely apologise,” he added.

Kim Sae Ron passed away at the age of 24 on February 16 this year. She was found dead in a suspected suicide.
