RAMALLAH/JERUSALEM: Early on Thursday, Israeli forces carried out a raid in the West Bank city of Ramallah in what the military claimed was an effort to demolish the residence of a Palestinian accused of carrying out a Jerusalem double-bombing last year.

At least 35 people were injured, including at least 20 by live bullets, according to the Palestinian health ministry. Two individuals experienced serious stomach wounds while a third was hit by an elastic projectile which infiltrated his skull.

According to a journalist, hundreds of Palestinians gathered in downtown Ramallah, the Palestinian government’s headquarters in the occupied West Bank, when a large military convoy arrived.
According to the journalist, some Palestinian youths threw stones at the Israeli soldiers, who responded by firing live bullets, stun grenades, and tear gas at the crowd. As ambulance sirens wailed, burning trash cans slowed traffic.

Following a meeting with Arab lawmakers to discuss “solutions to the wave of murders in the Arab society,” Netanyahu made the announcement earlier this week that he had made the decision to establish a steering committee.
